Local Area Info: Fairmount, Tennessee

Fairmount is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,825 at the 2010 census.[3] It is part of the Chattanooga, TN–GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

At the 2000 census,[1] there were 2,600 people, 900 households and 758 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 440.4 per square mile (170.1/km²). There were 952 housing units at an average density of 161.3/sq mi (62.3/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.77% White, 0.27% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.08% from other races, and 0.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.42% of the population.

There were 900 households of which 43.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.9% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.7% were non-families. 13.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.89 and the average family size was 3.18.
