Are You Enrolled in a DOT Consortium?
Individuals who are employed in a position designated as "safety sensitive" must be actively enrolled in a random drug and alcohol testing program. Oftentimes, covered employees will join a group of other DOT regulated employees in a random testing program and this is referred to as a DOT Consortium. Generally, an employer who has less than fifty employees or single operators will join the consortium which will comply with the random drug and alcohol testing requirements of 49 CFR Part 40. Employers that have over 50 employees who are regulated by Part 40 may elect to be enrolled in a "stand alone" random testing pool.
The DOT consortium is cost effective and complies with all requirements of 49 CFR Part 40 which mandates that all "safety sensitive" employees be enrolled in a random drug and alcohol testing program.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) has strict regulations requiring regulated companies and independent operators (CDL License Holders) to be an active member of a DOT drug and alcohol Consortium and failure to comply with these regulations can result in significant fines and other DOT sanctions.

Local Area Info: Ropesville, Texas
Ropesville is located on the high plains of the Llano Estacado at 33°24?48?N 102°09?16?W? / ?33.41333°N 102.15444°W? / 33.41333; -102.15444 (33.4134229 -102.1543406), in the southeast corner of Hockley County. U.S. Routes 62 and 82 pass together through the northwest side of the city, leading northeast 21 miles (34 km) to Lubbock and southwest 18 miles (29 km) to Brownfield. Levelland, the Hockley county seat, is 24 miles (39 km) to the northwest via farm roads.
As of the census of 2000, 517 people, 177 households, and 141 families resided in the city. The population density was 1,441.5 people per square mile (554.5/km²). The 185 housing units averaged 515.8 per square mile (198.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 87.43% White, 2.13% African American, 0.97% Native American, 6.00% from other races, and 3.48% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 53.19% of the population.
Of the 177 households, 43.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.8% were not families. About 18.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.32.
